The Family Resource Centers have partnered with Literacy Connects to provide free Adult English classes for parents, guardians, or caregivers of TUSD registered students. English Language Acquisition for Adults (ELLA) helps parents learn and improve their English language skills. ELAA students come from more than 70 countries and have educational levels that vary from college graduates to those who do not read and write in their native language. We are still accepting new students.

All participants must fast for 8 hours and refrain from liquids for at least 4 hours before the screening. Appointments are required.

The free event is open to students enrolled in a Tucson Unified School District school. A variety of sizes and styles will be available while supplies last. Participants will attend an orientation session and receive 7 weeks of training, where they will practice new skills and learn proven strategies for providing childcare in early childhood settings. After the initial training, attendees can participate in an additional 4 weeks focused on home, crib, and car seat Safety. Participants will also have the opportunity to earn a CPR and First Aid certificate.

The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) provides invaluable support by offering free legal consultations and representation for those facing tax-related challenges. The clinic serves as a bridge between clients and the IRS, working diligently to address and resolve tax matters. We invite you to participate in a one-hour presentation designed to educate adults on strategies for preventing prescription drug abuse and misuse. The session will encompass critical topics, including appropriate medication storage practices, safe disposal techniques, and effective communication methods with adolescents.

 

 

Our focus is on creating a healthy body, mind, and spirit for Older Adults. Raíces Fuertes/Strong Roots is a community-based program led by Community Health Workers that blends cultural traditions with health and wellness education. The program focuses on brain health, physical movement, and cultural connection through art and music.
